Troubleshooting
If you’re having any trouble with how your device is operating try these 2 steps first to see if they resolve things:

1. Do a Full Reboot. Just like a PC sometimes your device may get a little overloaded with all the things going on. To clear out all its memory and fully reboot the device hold down the Power and Home buttons at the same time until the screen goes blank and the phone starts to power off and back on. Make sure to let the buttons go as soon as the power cycling process starts.

2. iTunes Backup and Restore. Like any software sometimes the system that runs your device can get a bit buggy. If doing a full reboot doesn’t work, try restoring the phone with new firmware (iOS). You should this via iTunes which means a new copy of iOS will be downloaded from Apple. Just remember to back up your device first! Follow these steps to do this:

Backup your device using iTunes
Open iTunes and connect your device to your computer.
Save content that you downloaded from the iTunes Store or App Store by clicking File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. Then wait for the transfer to finish. If you're using Windows and you don't see a File menu, hold down the Control and B keys.
If the backup doesn’t start automatically. click Back Up Now. If you're using Windows click File > Devices > Back up (if you don't see a File menu, hold down the Control and B keys).
After the process ends, you can see if your backup finished successfully in iTunes Preferences > Devices. You should see the name of your device with the date and time that iTunes created the backup.

Restore your device using iTunes
Connect your device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod when it appears in iTunes.
In the Summary panel, click Restore.
Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the device software file and restore your device.
After your device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. When it does, you’ll see the "Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the setup assistant. You can set up your device as new or use a previous backup.
In order to test if the device is still faulty we recommend you set it up as a new device. This will eliminate the chance of any user settings causing the problem.

iCloud Backup
We strongly recommend using iCloud to do a daily backup of your device. This means if you ever lose your device or have something go wrong it you will always have your key data and information saved in the cloud and close to hand. To set up iCloud backup follow these instructions:

Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
In iOS 8 or later, tap Settings > iCloud > Backup.
In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on.
Tap Back Up Now. Stay connected to your Wi-Fi network until the process completes.
Make sure the backup finished by tapping Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage, and then select your device. The backup you just made should appear in the details with the time and backup size.

Please note that after you've turned on iCloud Backup, iCloud will automatically back up your device each day but only if the following conditions are met:

  • Your device is connected to a power source.
  • Your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.
  • Your device's screen is locked.
  • You have enough available space in iCloud for the backup.
